Since 1888, HONOLULU has written stories that matter, having been commissioned by King David Kalākaua to be Hawai‘i’s ambassador to the world. Known then as Paradise of the Pacific, it became HONOLULU Magazine in 1966 and shifted its focus to stories about and for the people of the Islands—a mission upheld today.
